OUR STORY

My journey as an immigrant woman was significantly impacted by the services I did not receive from various service providers available. I needed someone who had gone through the same experience I had to understand my specific needs.
This is the reason this center was formed to help other women so they don’t have to go through the same struggles that I faced as a widow, single mother, and immigrant. I lost my husband in 2000 back in my home country Zimbabwe and was left with three beautiful children. The youngest was only five years and my eldest daughter was 12 years old and my son was nine years old. I experienced a lot of grief from losing both my parents and all my three brothers from 2003 to 2019. I decided to write my book entitled, “EXHUME OR HEAL, A WIDOW’S MEMOIR GETTING HER GROOVE BACK.” It’s now available on Roses Life Coaching and among many selling platforms like Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kindle, etc. Writing this book was part of my healing journey and it helped me to reset and get my groove back. In this book, I share about the struggles that African widows face and how one can rise above their pain and thrive despite having been hurt, betrayed, abused, and cheated on. My motto now is “Healing is a Choice.” I had to decide to heal and move forward with my life. I am here to show other women that it's possible to heal, be empowered, connect and thrive where you are planted.
With the help of my children and a passionately dedicated friend Maria. M. who is now a Board Member of the, RosesLife Women Center was formed in 2021. The purpose of the Center is to deliver Holistic Services that position Minority Women to lead a better quality of life and contribute to a healthy community.
We work in close partnership and collaboration with other local agencies in our community.

“We acknowledge that our Center is located on the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the Syilx/Okanagan people.”
